New hardware free suspension design teaser...

I had a eureka moment today and I may be onto something. It seems I've found a way to suspend a hammock with Amsteel and absolutely no carabiners, toggles, or tying, and to boot, I'm guessing it'll be well under 2oz. per side. I'm also forecasting setup to be super simple and super quick. I just ordered 50 feet of Amsteel from Redden, so stay tuned for preliminary results!!

It's always a disservice to the community when people occasionally post that.

Some trees have soft bark, and cording does damage the outer bark. But, even in areas with more hardy tree species being prevalent, it's absolutely the right thing to use them anyway.

There are enough factors working against the perception of hammock-users by poorly educated park rangers, land managers and the like. Anything we can do to show that in hammocking we aren't harming the trees is a must. Tree straps are one of those things.

Consider it part of the Leave No Trace ethic if you must, but please, don't encourage anyone not to use straps.

Are nacro-biners considered hardware? Or... Uh.... Software I've used them a lot in place of biners.

I used soft shackles once but they don't pull out so well under a load.
