I'm lumping soft shackles and nacrabiners in with "hardware". And even if it's not revolutionary, it's my take, and therefore exciting.

I also don't use hardware for my hammock suspension...not to mention, I'd probably loose if if I did
Better to do first. Announce second.
But heck, who can resist sharing something they're excited about. So now the pressure's on to produce results!

It's something new At least HIS way is...
I started out hardware free with a cheap hammock back in the end of last century, then a Hennessy, then an Ed Speer.... later on I started using a biner (fast, easy, drip ring too) (now a soft shackle)...
Hardware free, nothing new indeed but an announcement of a new thing...
So just wanting to see ... who knows what might come of it....

Johan - Good point about the Hennessy and Speer systems being hardware free. We've gotten so into modding and tuning our systems that it's easy to forget our humble beginnings. The HH figure 8 knot is simple and it works. I've never tried the Speer's four wrap knot but if it came from Ed, it should work.

This is also hardware free depending on how you attach at the hammock.
That's a nice knot to have in one's arsenal!
