1.75 zing or dynaglide for SRL ??

If you had a choice and weighed 205 lbs, would you make a SRL out of 1.75 zing it, or dynaglide?

I got both and can't decide which to use for my SRL's.

I'm in the same boat. I made one out of lash-it 1.75 and now I just don't really feel secure for some reason. I just ordered some dynaglide from AHE and am gonna go that route, for the piece of mind more than anything. I would hate to have something detrimental happen fifteen miles from the trail head.

I weigh just under 200# and have been using 1.75 Zing-it for all my SRL.
I wouldn't try to string my hammock like guitar string with it, but with close to a 30 degree suspension angle, it will hold up just fine.

I use a hennesey hyperlight rated at 200 pounds. When I bought it last year i was concerned that at 198 then I was asking for trouble. Well no problem The lateral load on the ridge line in theory is dividing the load in half under normal load! So 150 tensile strength should give you a 50 pound cusion at 200 pounds? I am no scientist but this is what common sense tells me? Course , if it breaks what do ya dopatch it till later. I have though about using braided fishing line for a ridge line? I always have a bit of extra 550 etc with me. If I break ridge line noe sweat repair it temp and move on.

I would say if your not going to put much weight or stress on it go zing-it, if your worried at all or think you might do something that could put you in a situation where you have to hang it a little more taught go dynaglide.

    Good luck in you decision!

I've heard that with the Blackbird, if the ridgeline breaks it will tear the mosquito netting all to hell. Not a problem with the traveler of course, but something to keep in mind.

The weight differnce between the two types for essentially the 8 ft needed is so insignificant that it doesn't matter. I'd use the stronger of the two, and not worry about it. JMO

    Zing-It min break stregth: 450#
    Dynaglide: 1000#

Either one will work fine. If strung properly (200# hanger, 30deg suspension angle) your main suspension only carries 200# load on each end. The SRL will carry a very light load.

If, for some reason, the SRL were to break, it would not dump you on the ground. It would just change the lay of the hammock.

Bottom line, which color do you prefer?

I'm using the 1.75, but I'm 190.(or just a hair under at times) Playing with an attached bugnet, I've noticed the angle has to be just right as not to put too much pressure.
    It'll be alright Friday!
