if you want each one 12' then your going to need approx. 48' of amsteel, each one takes about twice what the finishing length will be

    12' is really long though

12 foot whoopies are really really long.

'Common' length for whoopies is 6 feet, per hammock end. That's 13 feet of cording per each, before splicing and eyes. 26 feet total.

A 10 foot hammock, two 6 foot whoopies, plus the length of your tree huggers is 25 feet or more between trees. That's a nice span.

    12' seems extremely long.

12'+12'+~9' (hammock)+2' (+for tree straps)=trees 35' apart. I'm not tall enough to get the suspension high enough up the trees for that distance.

When I first started, six foot whoopies sounded awfully small. Therefore I went with 10-ft whoopies, which I learned are ridiculously long. I gave my 10-ft whoopies to unsuspecting noobs, who were grateful. You can always shorten them - that's an easy mod.

Screen out hammock hanging use from a google search, and find whoopie slings wrapped by arborists around trees........as slings.

One tree I hang from is too large for my strap setup, but not too big for a longer whoopie, with a short strap used as padding to protect the back and side of the tree.
