    My Silnylon Hex Tarp

I finally got around to taking some pics of my silnylon tarp.

    Specs:

    1.1 oz Silnylon
    12' ridge line
~10' wide at the widest point
Weighs 20.4 oz (includes tarp, guy lines, 6 x tarp tensioners, seam sealing and stuff sack)
    7/8 grosgrain on edges
reinforments are made from a really heavy WPB Supplex

I made the tensioners on the ridge line from bungie cord instead or latex tubing. They work well.

Packs down pretty smal for such a large tarp:

Excellent. I'm going to make one as soon as I can get some silnylon. I see you put the binding around it like Brian's McCat's. Do you think it helps keeps it tighter and maybe keeps the edges from stretching a little? I didn't do it on the nylon DWR that I made and I am curious if it's worth it, other than just looking nice.

That's a great looking job you did! looks like it is really tight too and the grosgrain really shows off the cat edges. Very Nice! and how hard was it to mount the dish on top??

I've made my BlackCat both with and without grosgrain trim, now. I can't tell any significant difference in the tautness of the pitch, but the trim definitely makes the tarp stronger. I can imagine it would stand up to some serious winds that might defeat my model without the trim.

Nice tarp. I am going to be starting one soon.

There was some talk about using bungie cords on WB. Do you think that you will have any problems with them in the cold? I am curious to see if they will freeze in the cold.
