    Video: Paddling,hanging,hiking USVI Nat. Park

In my continual desire to experience all of the Nat.Parks of the U.S. Poof and I attempted to circumnavigate St. John Island in the American Virgin Islands. We did well the first two days-forecast for day 3 had us paddling straight into 20-25 knot wind so we opted for a shuttle an continued our paddle on the other side of the island in those same winds but with 10 foot seas. It was the biggest water I'd ever paddled in...but by then the vid camera was toast post the snorkeling scenes. We hammocked three of the five nights and got a good taste of the island with a side trip to BVI and two national parks there:

I'm jealous. Great way to get a couple more national parks completed. How many more do you have to go?

Did you notice the original Leighlo Summer UQ?
Long ways to go yet...trip to Boston, Martha's Vineyard, Pictured Rocks, the Gulf Islands, Apostle Isles, Death Valley, Channel Islands, Yosemite (saving that one for last); Alaska (6 there I think), Hawaii (4), Guam, and one more in the Pacific....so around 50ish more. Probably won't complete in this lifetime (economic lifetime) but it's a fun goal.

That looks like a great time. I could use a little tropical weather right now.
    Good luck,

I was shocked when you said, this is where they want us to stay (bad idea). Then relieved to hear you say, bugger that, we’ll be staying in the hammocks. Then it happened again... this is where they want us to stay (shock), then this is were we will be staying – much better (how about that view). You both did the Hammock Forum Members proud! I hope you got rid of the anti hammock guide. You got BlazeAway’s Coffee drinking from the hammock technique ALL wrong! lol No one can drink coffee from the hammock like BlazeAway. Nice try though! ;o)

WHAT, no snakes! That’s outrageous! I’ll go find one and post it over to you. Next time you go there, you can give it to them as a nice friendly gift.

It was great to see you alive and living a life worth living. What a fantastic trip it must have been! The map at the end told the story, it looked like a fairly long paddle and a really amazing place! I’d enjoy doing that in my kayak. Probably get lost, but that doesn't matter!

Anyway MedicineMan, thanks for sharing your holiday with us!

    P.S. I'm jealous too!

That is awesome. St. John is my dream place to live. Taking the wife for 2 weeks in June to celebrate 25 years together. Hope to do a lot of the same things you just did.
