My fabric has shipped, the AmSteel for the whoopie slings is on the way, and the thread is sitting on the sewing table. Now I'm thinking I should add a bug net to the Hammock. Is that something that I can add at a later time?

Consider making a bug sock, that way your hammock can be used without the bugnet in winter.

My AmSteel arrived today. I made two Whoopie Slings for my DIY Hammock. It was like Christmas today. My Poncho Liner arrived, along with the AmSteel and then ten minutes later UPS dropped off some software I ordered for my wife. My Ripstop should be here tomorrow. I'll test the Whoopies out this Saturday on my GT Ultralight, while I'm practicing setting everything up in the park.

My Ripstop is out for delivery. It took longer for the nylon to go from Brooklyn, NY than it did for my AmSteel to be delivered from Maine, and I ordered the cloth two days before the line.

My fabric arrived Thursday, sorry for not getting a pic up of the unboxing.
First wow this stuff is thin 1.6 Ripstop Nylon and I can see through it.
144" x 68" of Ripstop Unboxed it was neatly folded when it arrived:
Folded back up
So for starters - Do fold all the working edges over to create my seam? I was think I would fold the edge, lay down a straight stitch. Fold the edge again and lay down another.
Basically all the edges look like this:
Have 144" x 68" of cloth, I'm going to trim the length to 126" or 10.5', the 68" gives me 4" of play on the sides for the seams. What eve cloth I have feft will be turned into a stuff sack.
Now to go get some Sewing Machine Oil so I can get the Thread Thrower ready for work. I been cleaning the machine up and I'm not sure when it was last oiled. It sat in my wife's Grandmothers bedroom in the corner. I did run some thread through as a test so I know it works.

Good luck on your project
The Nylon you are using, has it been coated in any way?
I'm gearing up to make a couple of hammocks as well, but I am having troublew finding 1.6, 1.9 etc. ripstop nylon that has not been treated with either silicon or PU-coated.
However, I found these by extremtextil.de (link below).

Im wondereing, if the material can be washed as to remove the coating?
Any help (or links to textiles in europe) would be appreciated :-)
And Rich5665... I'll me monitoring your progress closely to learn from it.
Good luck:-)
