    hello from alabama.

Hi. I'm new to the wonderful world of "swinging 'tween the trees". I have purchased an ENO DN and quickly obsorbing as much info and tidbits as i can. I'm interested in mods and making it my own. I've changed out suspension to DIY whoopie slings and now i want to take on the task of making my own bugnet. But also curious as to how to ADD a SRL to my hammock without changing or altering the whoopies that are already on it. Can it be done. Thanks.

Sure. Look up how to make fixed eye splices. Those will easily let you form a larks head right on to the existing whoopie slings on each end.

Typical SRL length is 83% of the length of the hammock fabric.

Thanks angry sparrow. I'll give it a try with the amsteel i have left over. I've got an image in my head of how you describe to do it. I'll make it and give it a try. Thanks again for the warm welcom and advice.

Hello from lower Alabama. I was going to Cheaha this weekend but the threat of tornados has canceled that trip. Maybe next week.

Just tie a loop in each end of your SRL to get your desired length, then take that loop under each whoopie bight on the hammock, and finally pull each whoopie length through the SRL loops you tied.
Basically just pushing the tied loop of your SRl under the whoopie bight on the hammock and larksheading it over the whoopie. Nothing needs to be done to the whoopie itself. About the simplest thing you can do with your whole setup. Takes about 10 seconds to do.

Taylo you explained how i was thinking. Larks head to whoopie on one end and then tie a knot to attach RL to the other end of the hammock at the other whoopie? what knot? and cheaha is about a 30 min drive for me. Love it! anyone who has ever been knows it takes at least that long to get up the mountain via truck. Now that this weird weather is warming up i'm wanting to overnight up there and then hit the mountain bike trails. :-D

If you already have single braid cording, and a whoopie, you know how to splice. Might as well take the extra 2 minutes and make it neater than a knot.

You can form a larks head on the second end with your fingers, and just slide it over the whoopie.
