    Trouble shooting Winter Incubator

I've had my Winter Incubator 0F with 4 oz of overstuff for a couple months now, and recently have been able to get out and use it. Lately, I've taken to sleeping in the backyard, much to the chagrin of the wife. Plus the weird looks/comments I get from the neighbors. With no fences, makes it easy for them to be nosy. : )) My underquilt is very warm, I love how it instantly seems to radiate heat back to your skin. I'm positive I don't have it setup right, so I'm hoping for some pointers. It doesn't want to stay in place after I get in and position it. It wants to slide off over my back to the right side. Ironically, I had the same issue with a quilt that I made, it really wasn't that well designed anyway's, hence the Incubator. I've tried tightening the bungee cords etc. In my line of work, repairing weapons, 9 times out of ten, it's not a malfunction, just user error. Meanwhile, I've resorted to attaching a thin piece of shock cord to the small straps on each side and over the ridge line. That works, but causes a bit of shoulder compression. I appreciate the help, thanks.

I have a WBBB as well, and a full length DIY. When you lie "properly" in the BB, your head and shoulders are to the left side of the hammock, and your feet, in the footbox, are to the right. Hence why it feels as if the quilt is slipping off of you to the right.

Instead of running a line from both sides over the ridgeline, use a small s-biner, and simply run a line from the left side tab near your head to the ridgline, but don't connect to the tab on the opposite side. This line should be loose when you're not lying in the hammock, and should only become "snug" when there is weight on it. That should help with the compression issue. Do the same at the foot end, but on the right side tab. Stormcrow puts tabs on all his quilts for the same reason, because every hammock and hanger is different. I did the same with my DIY quilt. I also have a tab in the center of each end of my quilt, which has a shock cord that runs to the ends of the hammock. These big quilts are heavy, and tend to bunch up in the center lengthwise on a channel style suspension. The end tabs help keep it extended lengthwise.

It's all a matter of dialing in what works for you.

Thanks guys, I've got a long drive to Portland today, and plan on hanging outside tonight. I'll give a report on the fix and how well it works. Makes sense, should work just fine! Thanks again!
