Hammock and stand for my 1yr old!

For her first birthday, I put together this hammock and stand.

    Materials:
    (2) 8' 2x4
    (2) biners bought at the hardware store.
2 yards of fabric from the discount section at walmart. Was $0.33/yr.

For the hammock, I wanted a gathered end, just for ease of assembly. ended up doubling the fabric in a "pillowcase" style, leaving the hem on the ends for the paracord to run through.

total materials was under $15! Assembly took about an hour.

    Here's a couple of pics.

    first the hammock and stand:

My daughter, the first time she got in it:

and a quick video from today where she lets us know how she feels!

    Impressions:
She likes it a lot! It works great for quick naps and bottle time. I also strung it from corner to corner over her crib and she slept the whole night in it. My goal is to be able to use this for family backpacking trips in the future.

    Thanks for looking!

When mine were that size I had one of those regular sized cheap net hammocks that I would string up in the house so it had room to swing. It would completely wrap up around the little one (a necessity for Mom). When they were having a really bad night in the hammock they would go and I would sit in a chair and rock the hammock. The screaming and howling would start to taper off in 3-5 minutes and within 10 minutes they were sound asleep. It worked every time. Mom was always grateful and thought I was a genius.
