    Would you suggest a traveler?

OK, I've spent some time motorcycle camping using a very small, cheap hammock. I like the concept, need something that stretches less (mine had a series of cheap nylon-looking cords bringing it up to the central point) that's a little larger. I'm starting into backpacking and would just assume sleep in a hammock rather than a tent if I could help it.

I will be using a sleeping pad rather than an underquilt for the foreseeable future. $$$. I like the 2 layer 1.1 oz traveler. I live in Idaho, and can often avoid mosquitos. If I need a mosquito bag later I can get one, but I'd rather have the option of not using one if I want.

I'm 5'10, 175 lbs. I'm about to pull the trigger on one of these, but need confirmation first... then to decide on which suspension I want... then to decide on what I'll use for a tarp...

    Yes I would.

    Warbonnet makes high quality hammocks.

    The traveler is very comfortable.

The Traveler is loved by many tried and true. I would recon between all users thousands of hours. Of good sleep.

I have the WBBB 1.1 dbl and the Traveler 1.1 dbl (both adjustable webbing). The Traveler has the best lay and is my go to hammock when bugs are not an issue. Brandon gives good value with this hammock.

The traveller was my first choice and I've heard you can't go wrong. However, I decided to be more adventurous and let Brian at buttinasling.com build me a prototype Marpat camo 30 denier 1.1. DL since they don't currently offer one. I chose a 60" x 120" and he gave me a pretty good price (HF discount since he's a relatively new vendor).

I'll have the first DL (I think) made by BIAS - I can't wait to get it!

Just an option- but I'm 6'4" 240 and I've been motorcycling with a grand trunk ultralight I got on amazon for $12. Beat that in value and weight! I did put whoopies on it tho

The price is almost ridiculously low for a complete hammock and suspension from a maker whose premium product is both generally applauded and also a standard against which the inexpensive Traveler is frequently compared even by those who own and like both

That, a warranty, and reasonable belief that Warbonnetguy optimized in making it that length and no shorter or longer. It may NOT fit you, but unless you have tried others that you know are comfortable, the Traveler would be the most reasonable first try of an unnetted hammock for a large man, especially considering the retained value on resale.

That isn't likely to get attacked in the Warbonnet forum. But even if it did, I haven't written anything against crazy love as a cause to buy a hammock. Nothing wrong with less reasonable choices.

My only hammock for now is my Traveler and I could not love it more. It's worth more than what it cost and if you ever need a mosquito bag later then just get a bug sock for the Traveler. Get an under quilt when the money comes later and you have the best you can get. It's a no loose proposition. I chose the 1.7 single because I thought it would be more breezy in the muggy warm summer nights.

if you get a chance to try hammocks first you should do it. one hammock don't fit all.
