My New Hammock Sock Made From A Painter's Drop Cloth

Here are pictures of my new canvas sock made from a $12.00 painter's drop cloth that I bought at Menards. If I did it again, I would get a canvas drop cloth from Harbor Freight because their canvas looked nicer.

I put a zipper in and installed 3 pockets in the side near my head.

Now all I need is some cold weather to try it out.

Pics were taken in my basement, which is a mess. Last pic is the end of the sock, turnd 90 deg. counter clockwise.

I think that is a excellent choice of material for a winter sock.
Loose weave cotton means more breathable.

Who cares what it looks like when the wind is blowing and it -10 outside.

Looks absolutely great and you did an excellent job with the build and stitching. I can never remember the temp that is ideal for canvas? Next time I find that list I need to print it off. Do you use canvas when it is below 20 or is it 30?

Very nice job! Any idea how much your sock weighs? Would using a clothing dye, maybe olive green affect the sock/fabric?

I haven't weighed the sock yet, but it is pretty light.

Some clothing dyes tend to weaken fabric. If you're thinking camo, white is the best color in Winter against a snowy backdrop.

Outside of Winter, I'm not sure I'd want to use a cotton sock because it has no waterproofing.
