Wow, congrats on riding out that storm. How long did the hail fall?

Wow!! I've never seen hail that big up close and personal. Glad you are OK.
Hail, hail the hail. That is one hail of a tarp)))))) Nothing like sitting high and dry in a storm in the hammy.
Loved the thrill on your face.
Sad about the tornado victims. Heart goes out to them.

That is insane! I can't believe none of those big ones didn't plunge through your tarp and into yer noggin. Beautiful area!

Never had my MacCat pelted by hail like that. I did get caught on the trail in some marble sized hail last Spring. All we could do was lean way over and squat down to wait out the storm. This let the packs take the beating. I got a few lumps on my head before we got the pack idea.
Later I had my MacCat whipped by some really nasty wind. The 12" diameter maples I was hanging from swayed all night and the tarp flapped against my hammock like a loose sail. This was after cinching everything straight down and banjo string tight. I have a lot of respect for my MacCat now. I was the only one of our group to get any sleep and stay dry (except the pair sleeping in a 4-season Big Agnes tent).
