    Late Oct./Early Nov. Hang

    Howdy, folks.

I'm taking vacation from 28 October to 5 November and I'd love to do some camping. I work every weekend outside of vacations so I'll miss the Mammoth Cave hang.

Anyone interested in a hang sometime during my vacation week? I don't have any particular spot in mind. I'm somewhat familiar with the Mammoth Cave area and Land Between the Lakes has some awesome sites.

What about a hang in the Red River Gorge?

Being in N. Ky, I'd be game for that . . . assuming my wife springs me for a couple of days (I have to relieve her from the kids from time to time so it's no longer a forgone conclusion that she'll let me get away.)

I had been thinking about holding a 'Haunted Hang Out' Friday October 31 through Sunday Nov. 2.

I'm not at all opposed to the Gorge area, but I've only been there once and then only to the natural bridge. You have a particular spot in mind? I'd like to see how far it is from my house.

As for the Haunted Hang Out, I myself couldn't make all of that weekend. I'm occupied the night of the 31st. Sorry, I should have mentioned that in the original post.

I took the family over to Land Between the Lakes this week and hand a great little hang out. I found a spot that I think would be perfect for a hangout of just about any size. I'll post a trip report with pictures soon, but if you're familiar with LBL you may know the area. It's called Sugar Bay.

It's not a fee campground, but it has some amenities. There's a very nice outhouse and each campsite has a cement picnic table. It's near the lake for those who want to fish or just walk by the water, and the North South Trail runs through the campground. The hanging oportunities are great. We got six hammocks in a circle inside our campsite and just about every site has plenty of trees.

Anyone interested in hanging at LBL late October?

Is that in Northern Kentucky? I'm up in the Chicago area. Figure about a 6-7 hour ride.

6.5 hours, according to MapQuest. Wow.

I'm still hoping some folks will be able to take me up on the hangout, be it at LBL or elsewhere. As long as I can get good directions to the site or I can ride with or follow someone, I'm willing to go.

I will be in Germany. sigh. This job just schedules things, and we have to go when they tell us. I'll be gone for 3 weeks. Germany is cool, but I always end up missing the hangouts.
