    Edges of Hammock Sagging Loosely?

Ok, so I just finished my first DIY hammock, made with an end channel with a rope loop going through it. However, when I hung it, I found that the edges kind of sagged and that the hammock was taut in the middle. Could this be because I'm not using a ridgeline or is it because of the end channel?

    Thanks

For my DIY it's just whipped without the channel but i found the sides will sag more if when i whip it the edges are even. To make it tighter when i bunched up the end for whipping i pulled the edge of the fabric an inch out and it tightened it up.

This is due to the layout of the fabric. IMHO, floppy sides makes for a most comfortable hammock, but it feels less secure...

The best solution? Knotty's stretch side hammock modification. It pulls the sides tighter, keeping your head and feet (and TQ) in the hammock, but allows the sides to stretch out, so you don't over-stress that seam on entry/exit.

Dude, you're gonna give me a big head.

If you knew how long it takes me to come up with my ideas, you'd replace "genius" with "nut case."

sterling98, a stretch-side mod should fix you right up. One of the easiest methods was suggested by another member. He made the channels into which the bungees go by simply sewing grosgrain ribbon to the hem of the hammock. Easy peazy.
