2nd Annual Louisiana Spring Hang Report

The 2nd Annual Louisiana Spring Hang is now history. Nineteen people attended. Most were forum members. The few that were not told me they soon would be. It was a great event. Friday night weather threatened the hang, but the storm soon passed, and in it's wake came cooler temps. Friday night Swampsloth treated us to a seafood court bullion, along with garlic bread and apple strawberry cobbler. On Saturday, several of us went on short hikes down the Wild Azalea Trail. We were happy to see we were on schedule to see the wild azaleas blooming. Saturday night Swampsloth filled our bellies again with a chicken and sausage gumbo. The remainder of the evening was a great time sharing stories by the campfire. I have to apologize for not having a video or more pictures of the event. I am already looking forward to our next event. Thank you to all who attended. I had a great time.

So I think our 2nd Annual Spring Hang was a great success. We had 23 people come out, a great turn out compared to our last years hang at 4. Most all of us where hangers but there were a few tents in charlieb's camp. We are growing and that is what its all about.

Friday night it threatened to storm for a while. The storm finally blew in around 9 and gave us a good slapping. Luckily my brother needed something from his tarp and put on rain gear and the rain stopped. Funny how that works.

Saturday with the promise of great weather came more hammock forum members. A few of us took hikes to the resevoir. Old River Rat and I went to the Indian Ridge Trail and got to see a pair of bald eagles flying around us not 50ft away.

I would like to give special thanks to SwampSloth who kicked it up a notch with some mighty fine cooking. The catfish and shrimp courtbouillon Friday night was so so good and the Gumbo Saturday night was just what the Doctor ordered.

Also a special thanks goes to tbctx. Tim man you where so generous about helping others. When Troy had a dull knife you must have spent an hour with your Lansky kit fine tuning that blade. If I remember correct you also lent out 2 hammocks and an underquilt.

I had a great time sitting around the camp fire with fellow hangers discussing Top Quilts and lucky for me only one embarrassing Jazilla story was told at the request of Old River Rat, thanks Joe.
I had a most wonderful time meeting all y'all and my brother kept saying on the way home how much fun he had.
Thank you all who came out and I know I will see you again.
