    Working with JOe/zpacks/diagonal tarp.....

Just ordered an 8.5 diagonal tarp from Joe at zpacks.
    Showing of hands please.
How many think this is long enough for a Blackbird.

We use Kelty Noah9's when we vanCamp with our WBBB's.

We have been in hard rain and some wind and remained dry.
Expect the 6" shorter than the Noah9 should not make a real difference.
Of course you will tie down low.

The two diagonal tarps look like beautiful flying birds in the woods.

But this is not on the trail so we are not so concerned by rain.

When backpacking I use a WB Edge or my new WB SuperFly.

Thanks for the opinion. I'd like to hear from some more diagonal tarp users please.

For years I used a JRB 8x8 with a HH ULB. Slept through some nasty thunderstorms and stayed dry. Well maybe not exactly slept but at any rate the HH ULB is a little shorter than the Blackbird. I had plenty of coverage on the ends.

    Thanks Dale.
    Any more opinions?
I like the 8.5x8.5, its off the shelf, well kinda~and its cheaper.

So the WB BB has a ridge line length of 101, isn't that correct.
and the 8.5x8.5 on diagonal is 144 inches long from tree to tree (I hope)...
so almost 2 feet on each end.

    Jrb 8x8

    The JRB 8X8 was actually only 86" X 86". It has a 122" ridgeline.

The JRB is plenty big enough for a WBBB - but I like small tarps.
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.
