    long term tarp storage ?

    Hey all,
Just wondering how everyone stores their traps when not in use or those lucky guys who have several. I guess ideally hanging them unfolded on the wall is ideal but what if space is an issue. Could keeping tarps in their skins or in a stuff sack have any long term ill effects ?

I keep mine wrapped up in skins when not in use. At beginning of season I'll set it up and run the hose over it to looks for any leaks. The big thing is to only store it dry.

I have, umm, a few tarps. They are all stored in stuff sacks. I agree that ideally they would be hung flat, but space restrictions simply don't allow it. So far, I have not seen any problems. Here's to hoping for continued good luck.

I too store all my tarps in their stuff sacks. On every trip, when I get home, I'll hang my tarp out in the back yard and make absolutly sure that the tarp is dry and clean. Then I'll just wrap it up, stuff it into it's sack and store it in my closet.

Tend to keep mine in large stuff sacks or in skins. Seems to have worked so far.

Dry 'em out. Stuff 'em away. Keep 'em out of the sunlight. Keep 'em in a sturdy tote or storage container if they are stowed in the garage where mice may be an issue.

+1 to Gargoyles recommendation. Make certain they are dry and then stuff or fold and cram on into the stuff sack. Also be sure to keep them away from any Petroleum based products, Oils and solvents will not be good for the fabric, but that goes for any nylon and polyester gear.

Long ago and far away, when I bought my first pair of waders, I was told to store them in a cool, dark, dry place. That was good advice that holds true for just about everything, not just waders.
