Buying a blackbird

So im pretty confident I'll be buying a warbonnet blackbird. I just have a few questions. I'm debating between the DL and SL 1.1 and 1.7.

Whats the difference between the 1.1's and 1.7's?
All i really found is weight and carrying capacity.

Is the suspension that it comes with adequate or is it something I'm going to want to replace?

Is there any reason i should consider Hennesy instead?

The 1.1 vs the 1.7 depends on your body weight.
I use the 1.7 double.

The webbing suspension is more than adequate and is my personal favorite.

Many people choose to use whoopie slings and Warbonnet now offers them.

Suspension is a matter of personal preference.

Whats the difference between the 1.1's and 1.7's?

The numbers represent the weight of the fabric, per square yard. e.g. 1.1oz/yd² and 1.7oz/yd², respectively.

The higher the number (weight), the stronger the fabric. Stronger fabric means less stretch, and higher occupant capacity. That's what the ratings on the WB site are based on.

having just got my blackbird in SL 1.7 I can tell you it's AWESOME! The webbing suspension is great, I might use it over the whoopies on my DIY hammocks and hennessy for it's ease and simplicity. just add some dutch clips or biners and your set. I definitely prefer the lay in the warbonnet to the couple hennessys I've laid in, much easier to find the sweet spot. That's my personal preference anyway. if you ever plan on using a pad the double layer is the way to go i hear.

The difference is actually about how much the fabric will stretch, which makes the user's weight an issue. I'm a 'portly' fella at 6' and 240ish. I have still slept many good nights in hammocks made from a single layer of 1.1 fabric. But, they stretch a good bit. There are a few folks that actually prefer some stretch, most do not.

The double layers certainly reduce some stretch, but mostly they are there for folks that use pads as insulation.

Either suspension is easily adequate. Personally, I'm all old-school and like the webbing set-up the best.

With regards to Hennessy; no reason to not look at them, but no real reason jumps to mind why you should either.

I have a 1.7 DL because I wanted the strongest one they made, because I was about 250 pounds when I bought it, and I'm 6'-6" tall. I have lost weight since then and made a couple out of 1.1, seen here, and I can say I like the feel of the 1.1 better now.

I've had my 1.7dbl for a few weeks now, but it took me a while to decide between the 1.1dbl or the 1.7dbl. Either would have been suitable for my weight but with a couple of junior hangers that like to jump in with me from time to time, i prefered the security of the extra weight capacity. the olive colour is nice too!

I switched to whoopies straight away, but only because I like them. The stock webbing straps look easy to use and solid made.

I tried the 1.7 dbl, but found it too heavy. At 142#, the 1.1 dbl fits me perfectly. Came used with whoopies & I like them.

I am a big guy at 6'4 250 I bought a 1.7 dl and I must say it is worth every penny its great construction and workmanship really show
