    DIY Tech Line

Is this the same thing as lash it? Just got some and im looking to splice with it but it looks like it may be difficult.

You can splice Tech line, as I've done it several times.

Any tips? It looks harder than Amsteel. I've been using guitar strings to splice.

I keep the 1.2mm tech line from DIYgearsupply.com on hand for random lashing purposes. The 1.2mm stuff would be nearly impossible to splice, as stated on the site. I've never seen the 1.9mm stuff, which should be similar to zing-it or lash-it. However, if it's like the 1.2mm line it may be very stiff and resistant to splicing.

I just use a large eye needle to do all my splicing and it for sure worked on the 1.9mm. I have a couple hammock ridgelines made from the stuff. It is stiffer than zing/lash it.

But, I really like the stuff.

I've been able to make a whoopie sling ridgeline as well using a guitar string. I loosened up the line by massaging it a bit where I wanted to run the line thorugh. It takes a fair amount of encouragment, but it works. Just be careful not to damage the line.
Dutch: Hammock is probably more weight but who wants to lay on the ground? I pee on the ground.

+1 just takes a little loving before you start splicing. I have made a bunch of stuff from it. Usually end up with sore hands from working it so much but its worth it.

+2 on the massaging to loosen it up.
I'm using 1.9 tech line from DIYgearsupply.com for my tarp rl.
I was unsure about it myself because it seemed so stiff. After breaking it in a bit it was nice and soft, pretty easy to work with. I just had to find small wire and some time.

Thanks for the tips. Just spliced two locked brummels in 35 feet of tech line for a .9 oz bear bag line.
