Pics: Cuben panel mod & how to roll up

This is by no means exciting or ground breaking, but I thought I'd share a little mod I did, and some info on how to roll this tarp up for storage.
This is the 4S cuben tarp with doors.

1.75 zing it spliced into the panel pulls loops. D-rings removed

Roll up and tie off with VELCRO wraps

Roll from end to end and slide into Burrow sized stuff sack, no stuffing involved anywhere!

That's pretty much how I do it, too. I let the tarp hang straight down, still tied to the trees, so I can dry both sides with absorbant cloth (2 pieces, one in each hand). Then I roll it up to the ridgeline and fasten the same way you did. The rest of the process is exactly the same.

I like your mods. My tarp doesn't have tie-outs, but you've got me thinking.

The panel pulls were already there. I just cut off the D-rings for Zing-it.

I have rolled mine up like that since 2007. I used 3 short tubes of fabric (about 6" each) where you used the velcro wraps. i think this is the easiest way to store cuben tarps. On my last 2 cuben tarps I just made one mesh tube that covers about the same area as your velcro wraps.

Something to think about is that with the plastic Dring removed what is the weak link in the tie out system if someone trips over the line etc? Also if the tie out loop on the tarp is cuben you might consider using something like a larks head knot to keep from "sawing" on the material over time. Don't ask me how I know these things could happen. My cuben tarp from 2007 has been "updated" a couple times

I doubt I'm going to use them much anyway. I cut the D rings off cuz I figured they would never get used. Then I thought I better have somethin just in case. But I use shockcord if I do pull the panels out, so I think I'm good on tripping issues. I thought about using a thicker line to address the "sawing" issue.
All very good points to consider. I'll be using it in the backyard for awhile, so I'll report my findings.
