I would like to make a hammock with the ACU 30 Denier 1.1 Ripstop Nylon (just got it on the group buy) Looking at making a Ghost hammock. I'm about 210lbs. Will this hold my weight? Is it too thin? Can a Ghost be made into a double?

The fabric is actually 1.0 oz/sy and I am at 200# and I would go double layer.
BTW, I have used this fabric before to make a hammock over cover for my Blackbird and for a hammock sock. It's light weight and extreme breathability are perfect for those applications too.
I have enough woodland camo 1.1 that is also super wide for one layer and I'm going to add one layer of the ACU camo to make a double layer reversible hammock depending on the foliage and season of the year.

I'm 210#, and yes it will hold.... Fabric is far stronger than you think.
That said, it will stretch a lot, which may be less comfortable. If weight isn't a concern, then a DL is the way to go, IMHO, it would be more comfortable.

I would leave a portion of each side unstitched for sliding a pad in. I don't normally use a pad but if you're going double layer, why not have the option.
And I agree with John, you probably not going to fall on the ground with a single layer of this fabric, but it will probably stretch too much to be comfortable at your weight.

and if MAD is right, and I bet he is, 1.0 might be a bit light...
but to give you an idea... I held myself up with a 2" wide strip of 1.1 fabric... It stretched, but held...

Good question, I've been hanging from 1.1 single layers for awhile now, I'm at 185lbs, it stretches but its fine. Now the ACU group buy stuff seems to be real iffy. Its mighty thin. I should know in a couple weeks
I've spent one night in mine, and the material is definitely calculated out to 1.0 per yard. My finished hammock body dropped by 22 whole grams from my green ghost with a finished body weight of only 4.73 ounces - AMAZING!
So far no issues, but it feels lighter than anything I've ever used successfully for a hammock, and heavier than something I used that failed in the field. I've got a one night Trail and Error test next week up on the AT, and I'm planning 160 miles on the AT next month with it. I think if it makes it through the AT test plus whatever I've got between now and then I'll feel comfortable with it. Right now I am happy with the weight, but have some concerns about the durability. I hope it is nothing to worry about.
Oooh, this makes me second guess my thought of making a tarp with it. I don't worry about a single layer hammock for my weight (155), but I really don't want to try my hand at a tarp to find that it doesn't shed water. Would a double dunking of sil help with this or is the thinness of the fabric what would make it leak?
