Large Knitting needle... $0.25 at a local garage sale for a pair. Weigh almost nothing.

I drilled a hole, added some mason's line (soon to be zing-it) and larksheaded them to my whoopie loop... They're always there when I need them...

I made myself a tent stake bag last night and in my mix of stakes I have two nail style aluminum stakes. So no the arrow shafts are not my go to, I will just use these tent stakes and if I need them for staking the tarp down I will fall back to another style of stake, or a stick, or possibly a biner.

Old thread, I know, but thank you for this bit of ingeniousness. I just know the wife has a pair of 1/8th inch knitting needles she won't miss.

I use pieces of arrow shaft with a little hole in one end so I can larkshead them to the suspension and not lose them.

Why does this the phrase "The phalanges of my vanquished enemies" always the first thing that comes to mind when someone asks this question?

But seriously, I use commercially produced aluminum tube toggles cut down from arrow shafts for myself, or, when I want the setup to be totally bombproof (for my daughter), I slip a CAMP Nano Biner into the MSH.

Never thought of using one of those Nano biners! Good idea! We have new neighbors and he is opening an archery shop. I am going to ask him about carbon fiber scraps as well as aluminum. I love my mahogany ones, but I am interested in weighing them against aluminum and carbon. I want LIGHT for backpacking!!
