    snap question

OK guys, I tried looking to see if anyone had used polyacetal resin snaps on uq side tie outs. Do I need the shock cord play there? They're very light and i also would like to try to use them to keep the uq up closer to the foot end, CBS draft begone minus draft tube style.

This may be a moot idea but figured I'd ask. The snaps weigh 1.4 grams per set on my cale and have a great holding power. I guess the drawback is the special tool to apply but there's a few gram Weenies that might have tried here right?

Haven't tired that but if you give it a go, maybe consider adding a few snaps near the center of the UQ to avoid an air gap from sag?

The hammock can change shape as you kick and squirm (we all do ), so I'd say use some bungee to allow the UQ to change along with it, but I think the snaps are a good idea - sides and center. How about sew-on hook connectors? You could put the insulation right where you need it.

Gotta admire a clear thinker who can use "moot" correctly and spell it right, to boot.

I think this'll work, provided you use enough snaps along both sides to adequately support the underquilt and/or add a couple of shock cords side to side in the middle as suggested above. I've thought about sewing snap tape ctnsnaptapeweb.jpg along both sides of a hammock and an underquilt. Let us know how it works out.
