This is what I'm thinking now. I'm not sure if those dimensions will work for doors or not. I'd like them to be attached so i can just rolled them up or stake them out or stake them into doors. Unsure from my calculations What the dimensions on the door will be with this. Would they actually close sufficiently? Also forgot to add on the picture it is 8ft wide same as i planned before.

    Thanks.

I think you'll find that having the 2' edges will not work. Assuming you tie out the ends of the 6' edge, that would make your "door" an extremely narrow triangle. Picture the line of tension between the ends of the 6' tieouts and the ridgeline, and that is where your "hinge" will be.
My advice would be to lengthen the 2' sections to be the full 4', or at least close. That will give you more material to form the door out of.

    Hope that makes sense,
    PF
It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Not sure about the doors, but the length on your corners is about 2'10" (it's the hypotenuse of a right triangle, where the two legs are 2' each). The math works out like so:

    A2 + B2 = C2
    22 + 22 = C2
    4 + 4 = 8
    sqrt(8) = ~2.83 = ~2'10"

Again, not sure if that would work for doors. A paper scale model might help here.

Firsy cheapest sil nylon www.noahlamport.com at least when I made my tent and tarp 2.99 a yeard for 1.3 oz silnlon first grade. Catch ten yard min and 5 dollor cut fee. still I bought 20 yards for about a 120.00 delivered!
Yes reinforce corners with fabric. No you dont need added weight of d rings. If car camping fine, backpacking no. To seal ridge line seam use mixture of silicone and naptha, or aka coleman fuel.
Dont be afraid to cat cut. Tack sil to a garage wall and drape light cord measure in center or fabric quarters over fabric,. Trace the line cut and hem. It is easy and sets up nice and tight.
Noah lamport doesnt have online ordering. When you call he is sometimes grumpy ,but ships out very fast and is honest!

Ps I recommend three tie out per side with silnylon, it streches allot!

To turn that around into weight savings, you're only saving about 89% of a square yard with those corner cut-offs. With 1.1 sil (actually about 1.3 oz/sq yard in weight after the coating), that comes out to be about 1.15 oz of weight saved; with 1.9 oz (about 2.3 oz after coating), that comes out to be about 2.04 oz saved. Just a thought.

If you want to fold in doors a cat cut messes you up. If you use a flat fell seam and hang the tarp as a 12 ft ridge the seam becomes a reinforcement for the ridge line.

I would just make the rectangle then hang it and play around. binder clips work as temporary points to anchor to while you figure out the geometry of the door folds.

    7 yards silnylon 2nds.
    50ft 1.2 tech line
    30ft 1.9 tech line
    25ft shockcord
    5 cordlocks
    2 metal d rings

    =$70 with shipping.

Guess that's not bad since I got the cord for uq/pod suspension

Edit: I don't consider my time having any value.
