    jrb shenandoah/ ws2

i am about to buy my first JRB quilt, and was wondering what opinions or input anyone had on this setup:

    -JRB shenandoah (used as underquilt)
    -JRB weathershield 2
-Montbell U.L. superstretch #5 (used as top quilt)

i'm a pretty warm sleeper, so i was curious as to what temp range i could use this setup.

I think you're right on target...although it's difficult, on a day like today- 93F and humid enough to drown, to even think about trying to stay warm. I have a Shenandoah which I recently bought on JRB's sale that I have yet to try, along with a WS2, and a Springer. Those, and in combination with the other JRB quilts (RMS & Katahdin) if necessary, should keep me toasty in any situation I'm fool enough to get in. And it will have to...the goose police have said enough is enough!

Too many other factors involved but if I had to give a number, I'd say around 35-40 degrees.

FanaticFringer has it right. Variables like no wind, a little breeze, a gale, or a hurricane change things in a hurry. The Shenandoah is a sewn-thru construction, so I suspect it will be slightly more vulnerable to wind than a baffle-construction quilt- although I remember reading somewhere on this forum that there wasn't much, if any, difference. Nevertheless, the WS2 should negate most adverse effects of wind up to a point. All this said, and having arrived at no definite conclusion, I will offer this: I'll use the Shenandoah on the bottom when something more than nothing is needed(temps below 65-70?). If more is needed, I'll add the WS2. I think this plan will accomodate temps to 40-maybe 35? Some may say even lower, but why push it. The Shenandoah is a well made piece of gear, it packs small and weighs nearly nothing, and at $150 with free shipping it makes good sense to have it. Keep us posted on your results.
