Thought about it but its a lot farther away and I'd like more of a hike I think
To get to Burrell's Ford
From Walhalla SC, go north 8.5 miles on Hwy 28 to SC 107. Go right on Hwy107 for 8.9 miles to Burrell's Ford Road (FR 708). Left on Burrell's Ford Road for 3 miles to Burrells Ford Campground parking area. Drive on past the parking lot for the campground and park at the bottom of the hill at the trailhead on the right. If you get to the river, you just passed it.
Or...set your GPS for Oconee State Park. This will take you all the way to Hwy 107, just a few miles south of Burrell's Ford Road, on the left.

OK I think we are going to do the same hike I did a couple weeks ago, which means park at sloan bridge saturday morning and then hike through the fish hatchery down the east fork trail to the river, and then either camp in the area by the bridge like last time or maybe that beach if available.
Possibly head down fri night and camp at burrels ford and stash some beverages to pick up on Saturday, but not likely because I think I want to get out on Lanier for a while on Friday night after I get home.
I really enjoyed the scenery on this hike last time which is why I think it would be good as a first trip for her.
heres google maps directions to burrels ford rd from lawrenceville

Okay, I know this is completely off topic and don't want to piss anyone off but... The biggest St. Patty's party ever in history is happening this Saturday in Savannah (google if you don't believe me). All the hotels are booked for miles around. But there are plenty of trees on Tybee island! If you feel like doing something different, come down and drink some green beer!
Arg. Sounds like fun, but I have Reserves this weekend.
