This is totally random, but after doing some quick mental calculations, I realized that this tarp weighs about 10 times what a cuben version would, but costs 10 times less than a cuben one. This is a lot of pounds for your dollar - which would be a really good deal if it were a steak!
OK, now that that's out of my system, we now return to our regularly scheduled thread.

I did these exact same calculations before I bought my HG 4S Cuben Fiber Tarp. Basically, I paid $45 per ounce to get a 6.5 ounce tarp. Of course, this didn't stop me from ordering two Guide Gear 12x12 tarps. They're a definite upgrade over my two Grand Trunk Funky Forest Tarps (23 oz.) because they provide more 4-season coverage.
My two sons will appreciate the Guide Gear Tarps when they go camping with me. If they put the Guide Gear in porch mode, they can clearly see me underneath my Cuben Fiber tarp.
do these come with a stuff sack? Have you guys all recieved them yet????
Thanks
Bart
I have never had mine leak, they are PU coated Ripstop Nylon and the only damage mine has taken was from a flying stake which I did properly anchor for the 40+ mph wind gusts we were having that day. A quick patch and it was ready to go.
They do come with a stuff sack and lines. The stuff sack is usually of the same color and material as the tarp, although I switched out the stuff sack for tarp skins.

I ordered one as well to replace my expensive CCS tarp for in the backyard, but I have to ask, what the heck is "package protection"?
