Mine should be at my door tomorrow. The tarp arrived at my post office at about 10:00am est. today, to late to get on the mail truck. I'll have to set the tarp up this weekend and see how it is, compared to the 8x10 Harbor Freight Tarp that I used last weekend.

From the pics this one looks like a cat cut hex. The color is different but the ads spec the same material for both tarps.
    : 190T polyester with a 1,000 mm polyurethane coating for extreme weather-proofing
Includes 2 poles, rope and several guy-out points for custom coverage. Actual coverage is 123 sq. ft. Stands 6 1/2'h., weighs 4 lbs

I'm assuming the weight must be coming from the poles and additional lines because the 8.5x8.5 is that heavy at all.(to me)

Well, mine just arrived and I must not be special 'cause I didn't get a pink princess bag. I was already expecting the disappointing size (102" x 102") and lack of seam sealing, but here are some additional observations:

    1. Nasty fabric. It creases like brittle cheap acetate lining does, making me really question durability. I scraped a fingernail gently along an exposed cut edge on the bag and far too easily began to shred and delaminate from the waterproofing.

    2. Stitches are more like basting - about 4 to an inch or 7mm each. I trimmed a loose thread to burn test and check breaking strength. It appears to be very fine diameter cotton covered polyester. It is weak and will probably rot with outdoor use.

    3. Straight sides, no hint of cat cut.

    4. The tie out loops are held in place only by two rows of basting stitch along the hem line. They do not extend up into the reinforcing patches or along the hem line for strength. The reinforcing patches are a single layer of coarse woven plastic material (think lowest price blue tarp) applied with a single line of basting stitch.

I had thought of keeping this tarp as a minimalist summer cover but am not sure it would survive an average South Carolina thunderstorm with gusting winds. Right now the best part of this order looks to be the Allegra sample.

    There different.
    The 16 x 16 says 190T nylon
    The Emergency says 190T polyester
Not sure if anyone knows the difference between these as far as weight?

I believe the treated polyester will be heavier.

And who knows what the actual specs of the tarp fabric are? They certainly didn't receive what they were expecting.

Got mine today. Complete disappointment. size was incorrect and it's NOT waterproof/seam sealed as advertised. I knew all this before it arrived thanks to this thread, I guess reality set in once I had it in hand. this was supposed to be my first tarp

Has anyone that is keeping theirs sealed the seams yet? I have some of the Permatex silicone left over from sealing my BMJ pullouts and was wondering if that would work easily for the seams or if there is another product that would smooth/paint over the seams better. I prefer recommendations that I can get locally in Houston, but I'm happy to order from a cottage vendor as well (except my wallet is scared of what else will sneak into my shopping cart!).
