how to use cord with a Claytor

I would like to change my suspension system on my JH such that about 12" of cord from hammock to D-rings, ie Jeff's system. I am concerned that running the cord through the sleeve will cut into the sleeve.

I want to know how others use the cord to d-ring system with Claytor's? Do people use whipping? If not, why not?

I realize this is touched on alot, but search only found one post/picture by angrysparrow that was specific and it was focussed on the cord to d-ring knot, rather than the cord to hammock connection. If I have missed something, please redirect me.

    Thanks

Check out the SLS. You could use just the hammock line (HL) section with 2 rings instead of just one.

I am like Neo...5 mm static climbing rope in a single loop to 2 rings...

    http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery...php?i=3615&c=2
    and the rings

you might want to read this thread for discussion around 1 loop or 2 from suspension sleeve at the end of the hammock...

I modified mine after this thread and have had no issues noted in that thread

I have a short piece of 3.8 mm line going through the channel which then goes to cinch buckles. I have worried about the same thing ( wear ) but I have not noticed any wear, yet. Of course, I can not see inside the channel, so who knows. I probably should get a thicker piece of rope.

Keep this in mind: you will want your rings or buckles to be under the tarp, in order to function as a "water stopper". The hammock is already about 10 feet long if you have a JH or No Net. So, you will want to keep your hammock to ring/buckle distance as short as possible, unless you have a really long tarp.

Good advice...in my pics you will notice that my rings are approx 2 feet past the end of my hammock. The ridgeline on my tarp is 13 ft. When you consider sag, my rings are just (barely) under the tarp. I did this to get the greatest distance between trees without having to replace my straps...
