As long as you don't soak the bag, getting into the down, it shouldn't damage the ripstop. Just a light spray, should evaporate the odors away, and still protect the integrity of the bag/quilt.
I tend not to use anything that I am not quite sure of to spray on my quilts. Also, items such as Febreeze (for me) tend to mask smells more than anything. I use a spray bottle of water and vodka (3:1 or 4:1 depending on what strength you want) and I will spray my entire quilt in and out and then throw in the dryer with some tennis balls to freshen up. The vodka (the alcohol) tends to kill the bacteria causing the smell.

It also never hurts to hang your bag outside and let it air out. Your body will give off moisture at night that can stay in the bag and eventually cause it to start clumping. Hanging outside will let the down inside dry out and cause the BO smell to float away on the breeze.
That is unless its 40 degrees out and rain is apourin'. I usually hang my bags in the bathroom with the heater on. this will help them dry out and usually gets the funk smell out.
I also sleep with a bag liner or clothing on. This will absorb the moisture normally transfered to your bag from sleeping naked. Also leaves the clothing with the funky smell instead of the bag.
