First Solo

Tomorrow I am headed out for my first solo hang. I have a few things on my mind that the solitude will help me sort out.

Off to the Nicholson Hollow/Hughes River area of the SNP. It's going to be a short hike - 5mi. The solitude is what I am looking for.

One's first solo is a "coming of age" sort of thing. Some folks cannot handle the solitude, others relish it. Myself, I swing back and forth between loving solos and loving groups. Hope your's is satisfying.

There is something about a solo that is mind and sole cleansing..I really enjoy solos. There is also so much you can accomplish on your own. You have the ability on your own, of pushing yourself to the limits of your endureance without the assistance of anybody elses help in the process, and the accomplishment will be so much more relished and remembered forever. Yes,,,I love being at one with one's self.

I am jealous. So far I have only done solo trips but they have all been off the beaten path in my truck. Once I get a backpack, I plan to really get out on my own. I dig the solitude.

Fell into them out of circumstance (got tired of cancelling / modifying trips) and now it is my preferred way of doing things. HYOH and all, but I'm guessing you're gonna love it.

Solo trips give you so much time and freedom to wonder as you wander. I mostly solo hang here in WI but this week I head out into the unfamiliar territories of the Olympic National Park for 10 days of solo wandering and wondering if the rain will ever stop. Have fun out there
