adding tie outs to silnylon tarp?

i plan on hand sewing a couple of side tie outs on to my silnylon tarp tonight and seam seal them tomorrow. i am going re-enforce them with 3'' circles of sil from an old stuff sac on the inside of the tarp. this will be my first attempt at sewing anything other than torn jeans and also my first time seam sealing gear. my main question is if regular thread will be strong enough? but any other advice or tips i could use would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I like to practice things like that on scrap material before having a go at the more expensive item.

First advice would be to be sure to use polyester thread. No mixes and certainly not 100% cotton (tends not to hold up all that well outdoors for extended time). This might also help some - here.

i cant get my camera working but they came out pretty sloppy. i put enough stitches in them that they should hold strong, they're just a little ugly which doesn't bother me
