Try and attend a group hang so you can check out some other set ups to find one that works for you.

Consider a BlackBird double as the double layers keep the pad slippage to a minimum. I have used a 24"+ wide wallyworld blue foam pad in mine with great success. If you can afford a UQ is even better
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Thanks all. Looks like I will try and hook up with Joey next week and glean some of his knowledge. I'll be ordering "The Ultimate Hang" also! Looking for a bigger nest also.
I'm in Boonsboro, MD if anyone is close by.

There is always the DIY route. Knotty is a good example of the knowledge base here. He has provided some great patterns and great innovations. From my experience work at it in stages, Camp out back and maybe have a second play or set-up to try. Its always better to try in in the back yard than 20 miles form your truck.

Rotten luck. Don't let one bad experience ruin hammocking for you. Practice by hanging in the back yard. Once you figure it out I promise you'll never have a better night's sleep.

    Ranger77,
I'm in Gaithersburg if that helps. I have an ENO double and a Warbonnet Blackbird 1.1 double layer. I'm not much good at figuring out what works for others, but you are welcome to try out my set-ups.
If your UL is going to work you, it will likely take a bit of fiddling to get to a comfortable lay. I still think things feel slightly different each time I set up, sometimes more comfortable than others, but always better than the ground (for me).

    Good luck,
    Jason

    Hey Jason,

I appreciate the offer. I work in Frederick, so it wouldn't be much of a jaunt to meet up and look at your set-ups. I am supposed to meet Joey next weekend and pick his brain a little. After that I'll give you a shout and see what's up.

    Thanks again,

    Scott
