    Reelfoot TN Group Hang?

JBrianB and I were talking about going to Reelfoot and camping/fishing around the first of May. That got us to thinking it might make a descent group hang, but wasn't sure how it would go over. We're curious to see if anyone would be interested. It wouldn't be anything formal as we would probably go whether anyone comes or not.

I do know it's $8.00 a site for up to 4 people, they don't require permits for groups, and it's first come first serve. I'm not sure on the tree situation, but we can take a half day next week and drive up there to and check the grounds out.
    It'll be alright Friday!

My family and I might be interested in this. We already have a trip planned (to DC and the AT in Maryland) for some time in May (to be determined). But we have been discussing doing a Reelfoot Lake trip between now and July. Have never been.

As I indicated at Kyle's Landing, I'm very interested. Unfortunately, we have hangs scheduled here for early May.

I would suggest sending Rayn (HF name) a PM. He goes there several times a year and takes groups on photography outings for the eagles etc.

I was gonna hollar at ya Gringo. This was more just a second thought like I said, we were just going to go for a weekend. I'll definitely check it out next week to see what the trees look like.

I'll PM Rayn, he might have some suggestions as well.

This is a great point. It's a good place to take a family. There are alcohol regulations at the park, so debauchery is out. I have found in places like this over the years that discreet sipping is usually OK (cups and all) as long as no one gets loud and stupid and doesn't fill up the trash cans with beer bottles, but take your own risks.

The place would be at the Airpark campground on the northwest end of the lake and the state park employee tncamper talked to said hammocks were fine by her... the usual caveats about damaging trees apply.

I may take my kids as well. It's "civilized" enough and will be enough of a car camping experience that I can probably get mine to bite.

Hope we get a decent turnout. Decent proximity to Little Rock, Nashville, Memphis, St. Louis. Hope to see you guys from North Mississippi, Eastern Arkansas, Western Kentucky, West Tennessee and Southeast Missouri there! We'll report after we scout it.

Man, I would love to go hang with you guy & gals. I love reelfoot! Great for eagle watching and crappie fishing! Unfortunately, that weekend is Music Fest here in Memphis, and I cook for all the bands....But I will be thinking of you guys while I am sweating my butt off on the MS river! (I will hang my new Hennessy beside my cooking rig and sleep outside that week) Have fun!

I love Realfoot Lake! In the past a group of friends and I would go there every spring (we stayed at Bluebank Resort) and feast on Crapie!!! Watch out for those stumps! Have a great time....
