    Hammock tie outs?

Hey all so I am having a hammock made at the moment. I have the option to add on side tie outs to the hammock body. I was thinking one at the foot end and one at the head end. Thing is Ive never seen them before. They seem kinda cool but I dont know if there really is an advantage to having them or not. I dont want to pay extra for something I'll never use. I also dont want to pass up the chance to have them. So does anyone else have them? Do you use them often? If so .. please explain.

I have an hh, bb, and several DIYs, I've actually gone back and added tie out point to a couple because I like how open they make the hammock feel and I think let's you see a bit more. On the ones that have them I always use tie outs unless it's tight quarters and there's just not room. If it's a bugnet. Hammock I'd definitely get them because it keeps the netting up and out. All that said I'm laying in a traveller style hammock without at the moment and don't miss them

I consider them "must haves" on hammocks with built-in bugnets. Otherwise, I think they are optional. I don't miss them on nestled hammocks

I really agree with both posts, I hate tripping on them and untangling, but I hate bug net in the face. I am seriously contemplating a Clark 250 for that very reason

My Switchback has the same tie out you are looking at. They are not necessary but do help with the bugnet as others have mentioned. Depending on the width of your hammock, they would help eliminate the floppy sides that can occur with excess fabric.

The new ride is going to be 77" wide. They sound nice but do they get in your way a lot? I can't imagine a hammock with no swing

The tie outs on my SW are shock cord so it swings fine and they give if you trip on them. I am used to them since my BB has tie outs as well. It's just like tarp guylines, you get used to them.

You know I didn't think of this before but I don't see how tie outs would even work with a bug net that wasnt built in or a winter sock
