    Punxatanty june 23-29

I'll be in the Punxatanty PA area for the first time. I'm thinking about driving over to the AT and getting on the trail for a couple of days. Not sure what small section I'm going to do. I've haven't been on the AT in over 11yrs, so nothing to strenuous....LOL
This will be the first time for the WBBB1.7 hang

Do you mean Punxsutawney PA? If so you're still a fair drive from the AT. It crosses the southern boarder of PA east of Chambersburg, crosses the Susquehanna river just north of Harrisburg and exits the state to the east at the Delaware water gap (Route 80). I'm close to the middle portion and might be game for a weekend hang as long as it fits into the family schedule.

If I were in the Punxsutawney area I would probably head north for the Allegheny National Forest.

I will be doing a short hike and hanging on the Allegheny Front Trail that weekend (June 23rd) near Black Moshannon State park ( about an hour from Punxsutawney) if you want to hang there with me. We are also doing a longer hike on that same trail in July for about 4 days and that thread is here on the forums. Just wanted to give you another option, in case you don't want to hoof it all the way down to the AT from Punxsutawney.

Another real good option that is North of Punxsutawney ( Just past Clearfield Pa.) is the trail head of the Quehanna Trail that is at Parker Dam State Park- This is actually closer than Black Moshannon and another real good option. A nice place full of all types of trails!!
