2nd Attempt at Kenosha Pass Colorado: March 24th-28th

Back on January 28th MrClockwork, food, and myself attempted to have a hang up on Kenosha Pass (10,700ft) Colorado.
We were chased off the mtns by high winds and 20 degrees colder temps than forecast.
    That trip report:
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=46121

Well, MuseJr from Utah and myself are making another attempt this week.

I will be arriving Saturday morning the 24th to pulk my winter kit in and find a good sheltered basecamp. MuseJr will arrive Sunday noonish.

This is an open invitation for any fellow hangers to join us
whether it be to hang or come up to day hike/snowshoe the area.

I will be testing my custom winter hot tarp with wood stove. MuseJr will be testing his Hardrock Winter Lodge from Arrowhead.

A few picts of what to expect if the weather holds.

How I wished we had alittle of your weather right now,,this pretty much sucks for too early of a spring,,weather bug has 80 on it, and I have 89 on my temp gague under the porch,,and we are supposed to be at a ave. of 45 for this time of year.. Think we are in for a run for our money on hot summer this year if this weather keeps up,,now been 5-6 days of 75 and 80's. Its making the fish screwey alittle with warm water, all the trees, and fruit trees are blooming out, mushroom hunting is too hot with not enough moisture, and I have seen a tom turkey breeding on Feb 28th, and that is not to happen for another couple of 3 weeks either. Give me alittle snow to slow this down. good luck your hike/hang and hope you get it done!

We just had a little snow blow through, so there should be more on the hill. They expected close to 2' with the storms that passed through.
I am looking forward to using the other side of the hill for further gear testing. My new winter quilts and tarp haven't had much time to play this year.

I'm bringing steaks to cook over an open fire Sunday night!!! (I think I can pack them in a couple miles...)

Ah, steak on a stick. My favorite.
Really looking forward to checking out your new winter tarp. If the wind kicks up you will really be glad you have your winter quilts.

And, this trip goes until Wednesday? I may try to move some obligations around and see if I can get out there on Sunday.

I won't know until the end of this week, but I likely won't have to be into work until 2:30 PM on Monday. Saturday evening I'm tied up, but I could get out there on Sunday. I'll be in touch.

Do you think you can fine our base camp area with the map I posted?
It's only about a mile from the parking lot.

We plan to day hike from this base camp. It's much nicer snowshoeing without heavy packs on.
I will be down at the parking lot at ~12noon on Sunday to meet up with MuseJr. Probably hanging in the campground just West(50 yards) from the parking lot.

If I don't have to be into work until the afternoon on Monday, everything should be fine. OutandBack, yes PM me your number and I'll give you a call Friday afternoon to get some quick details: meals, parking, etc.

    Awesome!
