Well If you like looking at Dangerbirds...you can look at mine which arrived today, shown in it's various stages of regalia! It's impecibly made and weighs 1lb 14oz including bag, 10' straps and cinch buckles. I couldn't be happier. This was a journey getting this bird here which I won't bore you with the details. Suffice it to say the customer service at Dream Hammocks is as good as their products.

Thank you VERY much Papa Smurf! My wife and I are leaving in about a week and a half for our AT hike and we will both be sporting Dangerbirds. I'm stoked!

BTW...the tarp is a Big Daddy which I'm equally happy with and the UQ is a Hammock Gear Incubator. There's some serious coverage and warmth there.

I have had both DangerBird and RoamingGnome and I absolutely love my RoamingGnome. I used it this weekend and it is by far my favorite hammock to date.

    Miguel:
I remember that welcome mat from the last time you posted those pics. Hammocks look somewhat alike, but, oh do I suspect how HEAVY that recycled rubber welcome mat might be. No need to stake it down.

    ---------

I am very eager for some comparisons you'd made between papasmurf's polyester bed hammocks and the feel of your Clark, which also uses a heavier and less stretchy fabric, and has a relatively firm feel.

You are indeed correct about the mat...it was the closest thing at hand when I went out last night to sleep in my wife's dangerbird. Tonight I'll be sleeping in MINE! Our Dangerbird bodys are made of ripstop nylon....her's 1.1, mine 1.5. I do have experience with the Crinkle material. It has a MUCH higher weight rating and I felt little or no stretch. It's difficult to describe the feel of it. It is different than ripstop but quite comfortable when lying in it. I was going for minimal weight so I opted for the lower weight ripstop nylon. I'm pretty sure the Clarks are made of 1.9 ripstop. Those suckers are HEAVY. My 1.5 came in at 1lb 5oz with daisy chains but without the rest of the suspension....1lb 14oz ready to hit the trail. I can't speak for Randy but maybe he could send you a small piece of the Crinkle to check out.

Well, I'm disappointed, but I have no complaint; this usefully points out that papasmurf's hammocks are custom, not just in color but in phylum of fabric, too.

To wonder if someone would have the mercury-silver fillings in his teeth replaced with porcelain before section hiking, not for cosmetics, but to shed weight, is for another thread.
There are several folks interested in your experience of trail use of your new swings, not least the hikers and the swing - maker.

The weight on the DangerBird 60 in Crinkle Taffeta would be right around 31.3 oz, but I'd like to get a few more finished before listing the weight on the site.

This would be in the stuff sack, ready to hang.

20120119! I was hoping for a number I could get my little hillibilly mind around like #34 or #148
Looks like my DangerB is headed back into the Smokies for a stealth camp this weekend. We'll have a blackbird and/or a traveler set up so each can hop from one to the other for comparisons sake.
After 5-6 years in Hennesseys, 4 years in Blackbirds, I think I've already got a good grasp on how these hammocks compare.
