This was only my second night in the woods sleeping in a hammock. This is my first attempt at a video. Hope you enjoy!

How To Put The Video Directly In The Forum

VERY IMPORTANT
Use "Note pad" to do the following steps.

Using a link, like you have above:

Copy the last part, after the /

This bit:

Paste it into "Note Pad" and between these two Youtubes:

[YOU TUBE][/YOU TUBE]

BUT, "without" the spaces between the [YOU and the TUBE]

So you can see it, I had to do it with spaces to stop it from turning into the video player.

It must look like the following, but with no spaces:

That's all there is to it and without the spaces, it will show on the page like this:



Of course you need to copy it from "Note Pad" and paste it into your new thread.

I'm gonna try David. My boy has a state gymnastics meet. If he competes later Sat or on Sunday I will be there Friday night. We're going to get out a lot this year between all the chaos.

Thank you for the tutorial Bruciehi5. I actually had over 22 minute of video, but cut it down to keep it short and sweet. Glad you enjoyed it! The Coleman dinner was very good! I will getting more of these from WalMart.

As far as suggestions, on your tarp ridge line, you don't have to put an Alpine butterfly loop in to make your power cinch. Just make a slippery half hitch: Form a loop, fold it over the line, and pull through another loop. Just make SURE you pull the second loop through from the TREE SIDE (not the hammock side). The advantage is this simple loop will pull right out when you take your tarp down. Unlike an Alpine butterfly. But holds great, as long as your loop is taken from the tree side. Don't worry, if you make the loop from the wrong side (the hammock side) it won't hold at all, so you'll know it. See here, starting at 3:39.

I use the same power cinch for my tarp line. I actually use it on both sides because I like the "triangle" it forms that my hammock suspension lines run through. I put TWO slippery half hitches at the end, after you've gone around the tree and back through the first loop--never had a failure. So, good choice!

Thanks for sharing! It looks like you had a good time out there, and the wildlife is certainly coming back to life for Spring!

As far as the tarp goes, I use a continuous ridge line (CRL) that I attach my tarp to using Klemheist knots (only because the cordage I chose for my CRL is too small in diameter for the stock Hennessy mitten hooks' line to grip in a Prusik).

I use a WallyWorld micro 'biner on one end (~$2.00 for two, if memory serves) of the CRL, in an overhand bight, to clip back on the cord at that end. At the other end, I use a round turn and two half-hitches (one of them a slipknot) to hold it in place.

I used to crank the CRL down really hard, but I've found it unnecessary after some thought. The Klemheist knots can be tensioned on the CRL once it's tied to the trees to take up tarp slack, and then I can stake everything down.

Sweet little video .. shameless plug for Dutch .. using his Flyz and Hook is by far the simplest, most reliable method I have used so far. A pair of prussics on the RL so you can center the tarp over your hammock. Light and fast. Keep hanging and sharing ..Thanks
