    Hello from Ontario, Canada

I would just like to say hello.

First I would like to say that I have not yet bought a hammock. I have to say I am a little confused. I don't know if I want a fully enclosed hammock or an open hammock. I would like to be able to set it up in my house as well as go backpacking with it. I am 6'3" and about 250 so I was looking at WBBB DL 1.7, but as I have never slept in a hammock I am not sure if I should start there. I would also love a bed replacement in the summer so that I could set it up in the basement. My wife never lets me turn the AC to a low enough temperature so I roast in the summer.

I am going to try to make some decisions in the next few days so that I can be hanging soon.

If there is anyone in Ontario that would be interested in setting up a hang with a newb let me know.

    Hi from downtown Toronto Skylar...

We've got a pretty active and growing group of Ontario hangers in the very informal EGL (Eastern Great Lakes) group. We've done quite a few car-camping hangs, canoe trips and most recently snowshoeing. We even hit Rattlesnake point late last year, right in your backyard. That was good fun!

There's always a wide assortment of hammocks there to see, the only problem is that I'm not sure when the next gathering will be.

Anyways, I'm 6'3", 275+ and I use a zipper-modified Hennessy Expedition and I manage quite nicely. If you want a bed, then you might be interested i the bridge models. They're getting quite popular. But definitely have a look around before you purchase. Hammocks are regularly coming up for sale on the forum, and some of the EGL may even be looking to sell...

    Hi Chard

The Hennessy Expedition is working okay for you? I was a bit worried as the weight limit says 250 exact and I go up and down on my weight and thought it may rip.

Let me know when you guys are going out again and worse comes to worse I can come in a tent so that I can see the hammocks to make a better decision.

Welcome from down the 401! The Ontario hangers seems to get together a few times or more a year. Keep your eyes on the trip planning forum.

Welcome from Brantford, Ontario. Starting into the Hammock Scene is always a bit daunting. I've determined that no matter what you buy, your going to want something else. Best case is you still want the old one too! lol.

Welcome from another Ontario Hanger. As the others have said, we do get out quite often for group hangs and a great time is had by all.

As for picking your hammock, you will have to try a few to get an idea of what best works for you. Usually the easiest way to do that is to attend a group hang and check out what others have.

Keep an eye on the trip planning forum for upcoming hangs in the area.

    Cheers

    Brian
