anybody have any luck using the surplus netting? I snagged 3 bug canopy's for $7.00 ea off ebay. They say non-deployed, still have the creases. They are 200"x68". I'm thinking a shock cord around the bottom and they should be good enough to enclose the kids hammocks this spring/summer.
Don't know yet. Had a buddy of mine give me one I intend to DIY into a bug net for my hammock.
I was thinking much the same thing about shock cord. I'll have to see once I get a chance to set up the hammock and actually drape the netting to see how it fits.
Let me know how it goes and please post some pics so I can get some ideas.
The one I have is kind of heavy and really stiff almost like fiberglass window screen. It might be OK for a backyard hang but I don't want to carry it....
The surplus nets I have been around, although it's been a few years ago (maybe 25 yr) were nowhere near stiff or heavy. Regardless, I'm not concerned about an extra pound in netting as long as the kids aren't the main course for a mosquito buffet. I have my fingers crossed that it's reasonable stuff to work with & I'm into savaging materials when I can. If it's good stuff, $7 for a 200x68" chunk ain't too bad.
