    Beach Camping Locations?

I'm looking to put together a beach camping trip somewhere on the coast of SC, GA, or southern NC, but I have no idea where. I know there are some state parks, but we would prefer more privacy (I know, privacy at the beach is almost impossible to find). Are there any good places you guys know of or perhaps any established campgrounds that aren't too over-crowded? None of us are raging alcoholics or anything, but I do enjoy a few brews at the end of a day in the sun, so we probably won't be interested in places that don't allow alcohol.

Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.
    Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

cumberland island, although at the beach i'd rather not be limited by the amount of beer I can carry in my pack

While it is not an Ocean Beach, the Pine Cliffs section of the Neusiok Trail that runs along the Neuse River has wide white sandy beaches and the river is very slow moving and shallow along the section

    Coastal Hanging

Cumberland Island is fantastic, our family has camped there for a week at a time during Thanksgiving week. We had to make our reservations 6 months in advance foe the Seacamp area. Never did check on the "backcountry" requirements. Late fall early winter and spring are the least buggy.

Bear Island at Hammocks Beach State Park in NC. You can camp in the dunes next to the beach. Like Cumberland Island, need a boat to reach the island --- no roads. Get there soon, though. It is full of bugs after mid-April.

Nice beach but last time I was there I did not see any hammock friendly places to hang. Plus being a state park, beer ect is not allowed.
