Hey, I'm Tracy from Morgantown, WV. I don't know how I missed this whole "hanging", hammock camping thing for so long. I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks, enjoying the information and suggestions. The light bulb went off as I was reading this ride report on advrider.com:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500618
It details "Skierd's" 6000 mile trip of the TAT (Trans American Trail) on a Yamaha WR250r, in which he used a hammock for camping. I am in the process of preparing for some adventure motorcycle trips and looking for a comfortable, light weight camping option.
My background: I grew up here in WV, enjoying the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, etc.
I've have varied interests, most of which involve camping. I'm a biker (I guess...lol). I have a Harley Roadking for my road time and a Yamaha WR250r for my riding that takes me exploring off of the asphalt. I'm an old whitewater rafting guide and kayaker, currently enjoy a good amount of kayak fishing. I mountain bike, hike (mostly day hikes) and fly-fish. I'm also a musician and spend a lot of time at bluegrass, old-time, acoustic music festivals (Clifftop anyone?).
I'm 5'10', about 210lbs, about ready to pull the trigger on a WBBB 1.1 Double, Superfly Tarp and still researching a cost effective, space saving Underquilt. I would appreciate any suggestions and look forward to seeing you guys hanging around.
