ENO vs Grand Trunk vs Kammok

I asked for a Kammok Roo for my birthday/Fathers Day gift. From what I've read, I won't regret this one.

Thanks! And you answered a question I've been meaning to investigate myself: how much weight could I cut from the Kammock by switching to Whoopies (a lot!) It's not my main backpacking hammock (too heavy,) but I'd like to convert it as a loaner for friends who haven't been swayed to join the hanging side yet.

I just got a couple of new Kammok Roos, one of which was in the new purple color. I Switched out the ends for Whoopie slings. I may have to pull the switch on a green one. I never did much care for the yellow one.

It's still my favorite everyday hammock (followed by my Dangerbird for camping).

Nice Review! Very thorough! Triggered a few thoughts of my own...

My earliest foray into hammocking was with an ENO Double Nest paired with Slap Straps followed soon after by a Kammock Roo paired with Python Straps. ENO now offers Atlas Straps which are MUCH BETTER than the slap straps (no stretching and are longer with way more attachment points) and are as nice as the Python Straps (in fact I preferred them to the Python straps....until I eventually lightened my load by going to whooopie slings and tree huggers).

After three and a half years of hard use, the ENO has had no issues. The Roo has had to have several fixes. My kids think hammocks are swings and though the ENOs have held up to this, my yellow Roo was not quite as hardy...the light wire gate carabiners failed...straightening out and dropping the hammock straight to the ground as I sat down into it one day. The Roo has EXCELLENT customer support and they replaced my original Kammock design carabiners with their current, hardier, upgraded carabiners for free. Most recently, my Roo wound up with a tear in the middle of the body of the fabric. The company has a policy where they will give you a heavy discount on a replacement hammock, but, I was not interested in putting money into another Roo...I had my eyes on a Warbonnet Blackbird instead. I repaired the tear myself and it has held fine for the past year and I continue to let the kids use the Roo and ENO, though NOT to swing in them any more.

A few years ago, I noticed a Tribes Provision hammock on Amazon on sale for $29 (even included ropes to hang it with, so no need to buy straps). I picked it up thinking I'd leave THAT hammock to the kids, but, ironically enough, for just lounging around camp during daylight hours, the cheapy Tribes Provision hammock is my absolute favorite hammock. I shoo the kids over to the ENO or the Roo, but claim the Tribes Provision for myself. It is just the perfect size...longer than the ENO, so more comfortable diagonal lay and not as wide as the Roo, so not so much fabric flopping back over on top of me...comfortable feel to the fabric. I love this humble hammock so much that I switched out it's suspension with Dutch speed hooks and tree straps. It is the only hammock I take with me on day hikes. (Of course when camping, nothing replaces my Blackbird XLC at night!) I see the Tribes Provision hammock go on sale for the $29 fairly often on Amazon and now it comes in a variety of colors rather than just the olive green that I have.
