    diy sleeping bag underquilt

Firstly, lets get one thing straight, I'M CHEAP! so I had an idea to cut and modify an old roll up sleeping bag to suspend as an under quilt. Not the most effective but I this k it'd be worth a little time and some thread. Looking for creative ideas or plans if anyone has ever tried this. Thanks

Rectangular bag, fold the sides in about 6" and sew to make channels down each side

Make smaller channels at each end

Thread some bungee through the side channels & use these to suspend the UQ. Use the other channels to gather the ends with more bungee & some barrel locks.

Very effective, just heavier & bulkier than a down UQ

    Cool

Thanks spandit. Sounds like a plan. It will be heavier and bulkier that an UQ but lighter on the wallet for now.

My sleeping bag was free and the bungee was under $5 (ordered 10m - more than needed). Takes a bit of practice hanging it properly - best suspended from a higher ridgeline

thanks, i am in the process of converting my mummy, but having trouble making sure the zip cord doesn't pull through the material on the sides.. i like folding the material over on itself. genius!
