Getting rid of the shoulder squeeze

Looking for any advice anyone can lend on the best method to get rid of shoulder squeeze. I have an ENO single, ENO double and a GT ultralight--all gathered-end designs. I have already removed the stock cordage they came with and installed whoopies with the fixed eye thru the channel. I recently tried gathering and whipping the ends on the ENOs--initial attempt was 5 accordian type folds toward the center on both sides, then whipped. This didn't seem to change the feel any. I still had shoulder squeeze. Anything I can do to get a flatter lay?

You might try a little more sag in your hammock, and then get a good diagonal lay. I had the same problem with my ENO SN at first, but a sag increase cleared it up for me, no more squeeze at all.

I found that giving the hammock more slack allowed me to lay at more of an angle. That allowed me to lay flatter and removed all traces of shoulder squeeze for me.

If more sag doesnt fix your problem though, you might just have to get one of these. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=48694

Like the others have said, more sag has worked for me too.

Thanks to all for the advice. Appears the concensus is to add sag. Will work on that tomorrow. Once I get it dialed in, I'm thinking it would be a perfect time to add a ridgeline so I don't revisit this.

Ernesthemmingway, does that thing come with a couple of sequoia's to connect to???

Im not sure, you might have to find your own sequoias for it. I dont think we have any trees big enough in Florida for it. The whole forum has been jumping with that hammock lately, so I just couldnt resist offering it as a possible squeeze solution.

Give the extra sag a boost, as it were. Sew a small loop of grosgrain to the edge of the hammock next to your left shoulder. Attach a 6" diam. loop of 1/8" shockcord with a small cordloc on it. Run a guyline through the cordloc and attach it to a stake or a tree to pull the side of the hammock out. You can use some other way of tying out the hammock at that spot, but it's a good idea to include some shock cord in it somewhere. It might make a difference.

My son has a ENO double. We rigged it with an adjustable ridgeline and kept adjusting until he was able to get a flatter diagonal lay. Ended up with a 97" ridgeline. This reduced all of the shoulder squeeze.
