Dave your on the right track, just keep working at it. You Whoopie will not slip with out with out weight on it. I can't say any of mine ever did that is . I feel as if when I adjust my rl to be shorter it gives me a little more room for a flatter lay. The main reason I do it is because my hammock is pretty long and its hard to fit it underneath a tarp. Throwing a rl on it shortins it to better accommodate my tarp . Its also there to help you maintain some consistency on your hang . Considering you can't always hang it. The same distance apart and the same height every time consistency is your friend.
