Did part of the AT last week and camped the first night at Walnut Mountain Shelter in NC. However, hung in my hammock (Hennessy Ultralight) using a NeoAir™ XLite™ in the hammock and my bag (which is a Feathered Friends 20 degree bag) used as a quilt.

I had previously used a ProLite™ Plus with the same bag. This resulted in an exercise in frustration. I experienced pad surfing all night long and had a hard time keeping it under me.

The Xlite stayed put in my hammock; no more surfing. It wasn't positioned just right when I got in but it has sufficient stiffness I could worm it around to put in the right place. After that, I don't think it moved at all. This was also the first time I used the bag as a quilt. I could sleep on either side, on my back, or on my back with my knees up and was warm and comfortable.

It was very windy, in the mid 40's and rained most of the night.

I have an under quilt but did not need it. In fact I think using it would made me too hot.

The Xlite is a blowup pad and results in a pad 2.5 inches thick.
