First hang successful, but need tarp advise

After a week or two of lurking, I bought a GTUL to try this out. I figured for the price, I couldn't go wrong.

I did a little DIY on the tree straps and tarp, using what I had around the house. Well, now I won't go back to the ground. I've already purchased proper tree straps, whoopie slings, and an adjustable ridgeline.

BUT I need some tarp advise. I live in the south, and am a fair weather camper - so nothing too extreme is needed. Can a decent quality (but light) tarp be had for under $100? If so, where?

wilderness logics has some great deals--

the tadpole is a fantastic 'fair-weather' tarp....perfect size imho
and add the +2 panel ties for 10$ = free shipping

warbonnet also makes a great tarp called the edge -
and an asym diamond which looks mighty fine, too

Have you considered making your own out of either plastic sheeting or Tyvek? But watching the forums for one for sale is good advice as they seem to be offered here on a regular basis.

i've got a mamajamba from warbonnet noted about and an oes maccat deluxe from oes http://www.outdoorequipmentsupplier....ccat_tarps.php and both are just over $100 and are worth it. you could get a 70D from hennessyhammocks but it's a little heavier. i would recommend either of my first two recommendations. you will need to spend about $20 or so for some hardware/lines.

I have an OES and am happy with it, but it was about $125 (I got the slightly bigger deluxe). Paul at Arrowhead, however, just lowered the prices on a couple of really good looking tarps to under $100. I would be strongly temped to go that route. He makes good stuff.

OES and brian are back! and have been applauded as a premium choice since '05.

having owned one or 3, the workmanship is the best i've ever seen.

possible piece of tarp history if you choose the maccat standard.

options - options - and more.

    good luck on your search.
